Best Practices for Your First Test

Choose High-Impact Elements

Start with elements that directly affect conversions:

  • Headlines and subheadings
  • Call-to-action buttons
  • Hero images
  • Value propositions

Start Simple

  • Test one element at a time
  • Create clear, distinct variations
  • Make meaningful changes your audience will notice

Wait for Significance

  • Don't stop tests prematurely
  • Aim for at least 95% confidence level
  • Ensure adequate sample size (1000+ visitors per variation)
  • Run for at least one full week

Test Continuously

  • Run tests consistently, not just once
  • Learn from every test (wins and losses)
  • Build on insights over time
  • Make testing part of your workflow

Common Issues and Solutions

Test Not Showing Up?

  1. Check the tracking pixel - Verify it's installed correctly in the Pixel tab
  2. Clear browser cache - Old content might be cached
  3. Verify URL match - Test URL must match your page URL
  4. Check element selector - The CSS selector must be valid

Low Traffic?

  1. Promote your test page - Drive traffic through marketing
  2. Be patient - Some tests need time to gather sufficient data
  3. Consider test duration - Plan for adequate traffic volume

Inconclusive Results?

  1. Run longer - More time = clearer results
  2. Try bigger changes - Subtle differences may not impact behavior
  3. Check external factors - Campaigns or seasonality might be interfering
